Body Prints Workshop with Berlynn Beam: A Place to Explore the Quietude.
This is a hands-on workshop for BIPOC folx of all ages.
The workshop is called “Body Prints” and explores the use of texture and color in image making, and includes a self-reflective writing prompt. In this workshop, participants will be able to make take home works along with a print of a collaborative written work that responds to a handful of writing prompts during the workshop. We will be exploring current topics in conversation with how they relate and situate themselves in our bodies. This workshop is for all ages, with a range of explorations to be had.
The basis of this workshop comes from a project held in Vancouver, BC, through the Arts Organization, Black Arts Vancouver. In this workshop, participants were able to explore themes around how we express ourselves. In the writing prompts, we answered questions around how we relate to others, and the various things that make us unique. I found that it was an important and beautiful workshop that facilitated a lot of conversations that intertwined a larger conversation.
